I'd forgotten how much I missed the three-player drafting until we got this edition to the table — the military and science paths feel more balanced now. Turns still take under a minute once everyone knows the symbols, so it hits the table way more often than our longer civ games.
The new edition's art is gorgeous and the card quality feels sturdier than I expected. Two of us learned it in about fifteen minutes and the science and military strategies kept us hooked through three straight games.
Played our first game with four people and the drafting kept everyone leaning over the table, groaning when a good card got snatched. Turns run quick once you learn the military and science symbols, and the scoring at the end is half the fun. Our group's new go-to for game night.
