Build a mosaic fit for a monarch!

Azul is a tile-placement game in which players compete for the highest score by claiming tiles and arranging them on their board to score points. Extra points are on offer for collecting sets of the same color of tile, or for creating particular patterns, while there are penalties for taking tiles that you’re unable to use. But every tile that you claim affects what your rivals can take next. You’ll have to make choices that help you without helping them too much!

The moment you realize you've been forced to take tiles you don't need just to block the player next to you is when this game really clicks. Placing them on your board to build those mosaic patterns is weirdly satisfying, even when you don't score the bonus. My group's played it four nights straight

The tile-drafting tension in this one is way sharper than I expected for a family-weight game — you're constantly weighing what to leave behind for the next player. Turns move fast once everyone knows the scoring, and the chunky tiles feel great to click into place.

I love watching my mosaic take shape row by row—the extra points for completing rows make every placement feel
