My spouse and I finally stopped fighting over resources because the revised edition rebalanced the cards so well. The wooden shack start still feels brutally tight, but the new solo campaign kept me hooked for a whole weekend.
The new card layout makes teaching this to my wife so much easier than our old beat-up copy. We played three rounds back to back and the wooden shack start actually feels tense instead of slow.
The revised edition cleaned up the rulebook so much that teaching my wife took one evening instead of three, and the family-growth mechanic still hits hard when you realize you need that extra room before winter. Components feel sturdy too, though the insert could've used more slots for the cards.
